Why We Run

The Miss World Africa 5km Run is a powerful movement dedicated to celebrating women's strength, beauty, and leadership. This year, we are also running to support a vital cause: helping orphans and homeless people. Every step you take helps us fund essential community projects and make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Proceeds from the run directly support our "Beauty with a Purpose" initiatives, helping us build and expand shelters and educational programs for orphans and homeless individuals.

Teresa Fekensa Bayisa is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in the full marathon and half marathon. He was born in Ambo, in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia, on Tahsas 04, 1984 in the Ethiopian calendar (equivalent to December 14, 1991 Gregorian calendar). He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
Career
Bayisa has competed in marathon and long-distance races around the world, including events in 38 states across the United States, as well as in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He has participated in a variety of distances including full marathons, half marathons, 30 km, 21 km, 10 km, and shorter races above 5 km.
One of his most notable achievements came in 2017 when she won the Manitoba Marathon, finishing first among male competitors in Winnipeg
In 2013, she placed second in the 8 km Freedom Run held on Hamle 14 (Ethiopian Calendar) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, demonstrating his competitive strength in North American races.

Notable Incident
During a 100 km trail race held in West Virginia, USA, in 2013 and 2014, Bayisa went missing after the 80 km mark. he was later found safe in the forest after a two-hour helicopter search. Despite this incident, he went on to complete other challenging races, including the Burn Run, an 8-hour and 30-minute endurance trail race, which he completed successfully.

Miss World Africa

Haset Dereje Admassu is an Ethiopian model, beauty queen, and social advocate, best known for representing Ethiopia at the 72nd Miss World Festival, held in India in 2025. She made history by finishing as First Runner-Up and earning the title of Miss World Africa, marking the highest placement ever achieved by an Ethiopian contestant in the Miss World competition.
Early Life and Education
Haset was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She completed her primary education at New Grand School and continued her secondary education at Cathedral School. During her school years, she actively participated in modeling competitions and local beauty pageants.
She is currently a student of Chemical Engineering at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University.
Pageantry Career
In 2025, Haset represented Ethiopia at the Miss World pageant held in India. Her performance at the 72nd edition of the global event earned her international recognition. She was named First Runner-Up and crowned Miss World Africa, a groundbreaking accomplishment for Ethiopia in the history of the Miss World competition.
A major element of her success was her "Beauty With a Purpose" project, which focused on improving maternal health and expanding girls’ education in rural communities of Ethiopia. The initiative was praised for its vision, impact, and alignment with the Miss World platform’s humanitarian mission.
